Model Postcards

Aperture Studios is hosting an "industry night" and asked for those attending to send in 3 photographs to be displayed during the event. I went through my portrait folder and picked the shots I felt were my best three.

My first pick is a shot of Tara that I took 3 years ago in our offices. I flipped a meeting table on end for a background and stuck an umbrella in close to get a nice specular reflection off the table.

My second pick is a shot of Briana that I made 2 years ago on Granville Street. It was summer and Briana had on a nice summer dress. I used a long 200mm lens at a shallow depth of field to blur the background.

My third pick is a shot of Mary-Ellen taken during last year a grueling 9-hour marathon shoot with her, Jon and Maxine. In this one, I used harsh side-lighting to highlight her muscle definition and to pop the Calvin Klein mark.

I'd be interested to know if you would have picked these three. Here is a link to my other shots for comparison.

These are great. I like the processing decisions you made. Some others that I really like from your set...

- Dominique (2) (wicked lighting, great texture, mood and color - just lots of atmosphere)
- Jenny Waiting (again with the atmosphere and mood - this one is insane)
- HPS Motorcycle Shoot (5) (an on-location alternative with great warm vs. cool color)

My personal choice is any of these over your first two selections. They have more of a feel that I think would fit into a studio gallery. But that's just me.
